Robert Whitney Burns (1908-1964) was born in Stanley, Wisconsin. Following two years at the University of Wisconsin, he entered the Army Air Corps for aviation cadet training at March Field, California, in October 1928. Thomas Dresser White (b. Aug. 6, 1901, Walker, Minn.-d. Dec. 22, 1965), U.S. Air Force officer, received his commission in the infantry in 1920.
